Bifteki, a Greek Beefsteak

Bifteki, Greek Beef steaks, filled with goat cheese meat patties

Bifteki are Greek meat patties that are filled with either Goat, Sheep or Feta cheese. Serve with a white Yoghurt sauce name Tzatziki. Also goes with Greek Flatbread (or Baguette), Balkan Rice and/or a Greek Salad

Bifteki are Greek meat patties. You’d especially appreciate it if you like garlic and sheep/goat cheese


  • 1 lb Hamburger meat (beef)
  • 100 g Goat cheese, Sheep cheese or Feta
  • 1 medium Onion (cubed)
  • 2 Tbsp Bread crumps
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp Salt, Pepper and Oregano to season
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp Olive oil


  • Place 1 lb hamburger meat into a bowl. Drain goat cheese. Add the cubed onions, egg and breadcrumbs to the hamburger meat. Mix together. Season with pepper, salt and oregano.
  • Press garlic through the garlic press and combine with mixture.
  • Form it to a beef patty.
  • Cut goat cheese into small cubes. Press the meatballs flat and place the goat cheese in the middle. Cover the edges of hamburger meat over the goat cheese and shape into Bifteki beef steaks .
  • Heat oil in a pan. Sauté Bifteki from both sides for a short while. Switch the temperature to medium level. Fry Bifteki for 8 to 10 minutes turning sides.


Arrange Bifteki beef steaks with salad on plates. Serve bread with bread and Tzatziki. Also goes with Greek Flatbread (or Baguette), and a Greek Salad
