The Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt is one of the most famous Christmas markets in the world – with a “real” Christkind, the original Gingerbread and the Christkindlesglühwein.
The new Christkind Benigna has opened the Weihnachtsmarkt on Friday (29.11.19) with the traditional prologue

The Nürnberger Christkindlmarkt is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany. The pre-Christmas sales fair on Nürnberg Main Market can be traced back to the middle of the 16th century. You will find traditional, often handmade Christmas decorations and sweet treats, such as Gingerbread (Lebkuchen) and Spekulatius.
In the 2019 opening of the Nürnberg of the Christkindlmarket, the new Christkind Benigna Munsi spoke the Prologue
Last year the Nürnberger Christkindl Rebecca held the opening with a famous prologue of the Nürnberger Christkindlmarkt
In her speech “Sir and Madam, you were Children once, and today you are again,” says the Christkindl. She welcomes the guests to the Nürnberg Main Market Square for the opening of the Christmas Market. And she’s correct, with the joy of the Christmas tree decorations, Rauschgoldengeln, wooden nutcracker, cribs and colorful stars, you’ll stroll twice as happy through the romantically lit Christmas market. After you got the souvenirs for your loved ones, do not miss the delectable delights on the market. Original Nürnberger Gingerbreads and Rostbratwürste must not be missed at any visit.

Additional attractions include the Children’s Christmas and Sternenhaus, the market of twin cities, and a train with lights for the Nürnberger children. At Hans-Sachs-Platz, a Christmas town for children is set up. During this time children bake cookies, paint glass ware, write a Christmas wish list to the Christ Child, or ride on the Nostalgic Fairground Carousel and Ferris Wheel. The Sternenhaus in the newly renovated Heilig-Geist-Saal offers a colorful cultural and narrative program around the Christkindlesmarkt.
